Windows Upgrade Procedure 1. Download the zip file by clicking the Download button. 2. Read the software licensing agreement and click Accept. 3. The File Download dialog displays. 4. Click Save to save the executable to your system. 5. In the Save As dialog, specify a new filename or use the default name. The default file name is Windows_Media_Kit_V2-1-0.zip 6. Double-click the zip file to open it. 7. Select all the files contained in the zip file and extract them to the directory of your choice. 8. From the File menu, select Exit. 9. Change to the directory where you extracted the files. For example, if you used default directory to unzip the files, type: cd /d %temp%\raidcore 10. Open the .PDF of the User's Guide, which is available at User_Manual_v2-1-0.pdf. 11. Create a bootable floppy and leave it in the floppy drive. For instructions, see Chapter 4 in the User's Guide. 12. Copy all files in the firmware directory to the bootable floppy. 13. If you have previously installed and launched RAIDConsole, you will need to perform these steps: 1. Stop the BC_Service before reinstalling the application. 2. To stop BC_Service, at the DOS prompt type: net stop BC_Service. 3. From the Control Panel, uninstall the RAIDConsole using Add/Remove Programs. 14. To update the bcraid controller driver: 1. On the desktop, right-click on the My Computer icon and select Manage. 2. Select Device Manager. 3. In the Computer Management window, click to expand the folder for SCSI and RAID Controllers. 4. Double-click Broadcom RAIDCore BC4000 Series RAID Controller to select and open it. 5. In the Properties dialog, select the Driver tab. 6. Click Update Driver... 7. The Upgrade Device Driver wizard displays. 8. Click Next. 9. Select the option to display a list of known drivers and then click Next. 10. On the Select a Device Driver panel, click the Have Disk button. 11. In the Install From Disk window, click Browse to browse to the location where you downloaded the new drivers. For example: \windows\driver\bcraid\ 12. Select bcraid.inf and click Open. 13. In the Install from Disk dialog, click OK. 14. The Upgrade Device Driver wizard displays. 15. Select the BC4000 Series SATA Controller and click Next. 16. To start the device driver installation, click Next. 17. If you get a dialog asking whether to overwrite the existing file, select Yes. 18. When the new drivers have been installed, click Finish. 19. Close the Properties window. 20. When asked to restart the system, select No. 21. Continue to the next step to update the bccfg.inf driver. 15. To update the bccfg controller driver: 1. In the Computer Management window, click to expand the folder for System device. 2. Double-click RAIDCORE Configuration Device to select and open it. 3. In the Properties dialog, select the Driver tab. 4. Click Update Driver... 5. The Upgrade Device Driver wizard displays. 6. Click Next. 7. Select the option to display a list of known drivers and then click Next. 8. On the Select a Device Driver panel, click the Have Disk button. 9. In the Install From Disk window, click Browse to browse to the location where you downloaded the new drivers. For example: \windows\driver\bcraid\ 10. Select bccfg.inf and click Open. 11. In the Install from Disk dialog, click OK. 12. The Upgrade Device Driver wizard displays. 13. Select the Broadcom RAIDCore Configuration Device and click Next. 14. To start the device driver installation, click Next. 15. If you get a dialog asking whether to overwrite the existing file, select Yes. 16. When the new drivers have been installed, click Finish. 17. Close the Properties window. 16. With the floppy in the drive, select Yes to restart the system and boot from the floppy. 17. At the prompt, type: bcflash 18. The BCFLASH program will flash all RAIDCore cards it finds on the system. 19. Remove the floppy disk. 20. Reboot the system. 21. Reinstall RAIDConsole by running the setup located at windows\apps\Setup.exe. 22. Verify that all the latest components are installed on your system by comparing the kit contents from this bundle with those displayed in the Help > About dialog in RAIDConsole.
